Introduction

Ming who isn't enthusiastic about studying strolls the forest and beach during the date with beautiful Mei Ann; but suddenly she becomes unable to get in contact with. Meanwhile, the construction of rare earth mining plant is being planned locally. The schoolmistress Lim participates in protest campaign against construction while she teaches history to the students.
Linking a number of viewpoints, director Edmund Yeo devises an artful structure in which the story unfolds on various levels. The film asks us to consider the significance of history as a means of building a better future and is informed by the peculiar sensitivity that accompanies adolescence. This large-scale work, bolstered both by elements of realism and romanticism, marks the debut of a major directorial talent.
