Introduction
Rebel Without a Cause is the 10th film restored by the Film Foundation, which was established by Martin Scorsese with support from Gucci. This masterpiece starring James Dean has been revived as a 4K digitally restored film and premiered in November last year.

Born in Wisconsin, America, in 1911. He studied architecture under Frank Lloyd Wright before getting involved in theaters in New York. After making radio programs and advertisement films, he made a directorial debut in 1947 with They Live by Night. In the 1950s he directed Jonny Guitar (1954) and Rebel Without a Cause, which became blockbuster hits. He left Hollywood after Party Girl (1958) to work in Europe. Died in 1979.
