Introduction
Guohui and Peiling were childhood sweethearts who spend their last moments together on an offshore southern island as their relationship falls apart.
Synopsis
Guohui and Peiling were childhood sweethearts who met again after years of being apart and became a couple. On an idyllic island south of Singapore, they spend their last moments together as their relationship falls apart. The film is about the impossibility of knowing what has made people change. Through the ever-changing landscape, Guohui and Peiling realise that what is transitory is also eternal.
◆Director's Message
After living in America for three years, I returned to Singapore to find a different city than the place I grew up as a child. For this film, romance is a vehicle to tell the story of change - two lovers who had to part because of their inability to understand each other; a wall that exists in even the most intimate relationships. Hearts have changed and memories displaced; from childhood heartlands to the metropolitan city. Only the motif of water remains the same; in the pools where they learnt swimming as children and the waters that stands between Singapore and an offshore island.
