Introduction
After digital video filming of his previous work, this is his second live-action commercial film using 35mm film. This is the first film by Studio Kajino, Studio Ghibli's live-action film label. It is based on the novel “Touhimu” by Ayako Fujitani, who also played the protagonist, and is set in Anno's hometown of Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Film director Shunji Iwai plays the role of director, who evokes Anno's alter ego.
