We are pleased to announce that the 27th Tokyo International Film Festival will hold a special screening for the first time at the Kabukiza theatre, the main theater for KABUKI performance in Tokyo on October 27, 2014.
This year, the Tokyo International Film Festival takes place from October 23-31 and this glamorous event will be one of the highlights during the festival.
Kabuki, the traditional art of Japan with over 410 years of history, is a renowned traditional form of Japanese theatre with increasing popularity. Throughout the first year after the reconstruction, the theatre was almost sold out during the shows and a total number of visitors reached over 1.32 million. Kabukiza Theatre, operated by Shochiku Co., is one of the best venues to experience live entertainment in Tokyo. With Tokyo hosting the summer Olympic Games in 2020, the capital city of Japan will attract much more global attention. For people visiting Tokyo, GINZA KABUKIZA (The name of the complex, Kabukiza Theatre and Kabukiza Tower) will be an ideal venue to experience Japanese culture, since it was established as a hub to convey Japanese traditional culture including Intangible Cultural Heritage Kabuki and Japanese cuisine and products with high craftsmanship. We believe the spirit of Kabuki, which has striven toward new things and thrived with long tradition, will make a good chemistry with films and give fabulous excitement to the audience from all around the world.
Further information about the event will be announced at the Press Conference which will take place in late summer.
